Penrose Cottage 2009

Picture
The gardens at Penrose Cottage were started in July of 2003. Over the years the back garden has evolved into a American cottage style garden. The garden features a mix of perennials, Garden Flox, Black Eyed Susans, hundreds hybrid day lilies and many other types of perennials. The garden includes a small hoop house for growing tropical plants and starting seeds and cuttings. The front gardens are simple, containing  Hostas, day lilies, and Azaleas.

We opened up the front porch to give it the look it had back in the early 1900's  when it was new. It also gives it a warmer feeling to sit there in a rocker and watch the world go by. In late spring the Hostas have started to grow and fill in. The Chocolate Akebia vines start to grow and fill the front fence and arch.

Maxi

This is "Maxi" She was our # 1 garden helper and garden guard dog !  We rescued Maxi from a shelter in 2004.
Maxi passed away from cancer in December  2010.  She is gone but not forgotten.

She is finding out about playing in the gardens. She loves to chase birds and squirrels. She has been given a nick name " Nosy Rosy" because she has her nose into every thing. She loves to smell the flowers that she can reach.
